iRobot Unveils Dual Robot Vacuum Concept

iRobot unveiled a concept robot vacuum called the Roomba Duo at the IFA tech show in Berlin on September 4, 2026, showcasing a dual-unit system designed to tackle a wide range of cleaning tasks. The innovative prototype combines a powerful, large floor-washing machine with a smaller, deployable robot vacuum intended for hard-to-reach areas. The main unit of the Roomba Duo is engineered for heavy-duty cleaning, capable of sweeping, vacuuming, and steam mopping large floor areas. According to iRobot's chief engineer, Adam Pope, the main vacuum is the company's most powerful to date, comparable in capability to an upright vacuum. It can apply 46 newtons of downward pressure for its steam mop function, designed to scrub floors thoroughly. The system also demonstrated the ability to clean up solid messes, such as pasta, from carpets before washing the affected area. A key feature of the Roomba Duo is its integrated companion robot, identified as the Roomba Plus 575 Combo, which sits atop the main unit.
