Iraola: Barcola expected fit for Liverpool vs Fulham, Gakpo a doubt

Published 12 September 2026

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola expects winger Bradley Barcola to be available for the Premier League match against Fulham on Saturday, September 12, 2026, after the player was substituted with cramps during the midweek Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid. Forward Cody Gakpo remains a doubt due to adductor issues and did not train on Thursday. Iraola provided the updates during a pre-match press conference on Friday, September 11. He confirmed that Barcola's substitution in the 2-1 win over Atletico was solely due to cramps and that there was no injury. "We still need to train this afternoon. Barcola was just cramps. We have to evaluate how he is today, but there's no injury. He should, I think, be available, if everything goes normal," Iraola said. Regarding Gakpo, who missed the Atletico match, Iraola stated the situation was less certain. "Cody Gakpo we will see. He didn't train yesterday. Today we will try with him and let's see if he's ready for tomorrow or we need to wait for the next one." Gakpo has been a key contributor this season, providing a goal and three assists in the Premier League.
