IOA Denies Cricket Teams Separate Asian Games Lodging

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has stated it will not arrange separate accommodation for the country's cricket teams at the upcoming Asian Games 2026 in AichiNagoya, Japan. The decision underscores the IOA's commitment to treating all athletes and sports equally during the multisport event. If the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) opts for independent lodging, it will be responsible for all associated costs, including accommodation, food, and transportation to venues. According to IOA CEO Raghuram Iyer, the BCCI approached the association with concerns regarding the facilities allocated by the Games organizers. The IOA clarified its uniform accommodation policy, emphasizing that all 36 sports and their contingents are to be treated equitably. While the IOA will not facilitate separate arrangements, it has given its approval for the BCCI to explore independent options. The Games organizers have assigned the threestar APA Hotel Nagoya Ekimae for the Indian men's cricket team and the fourstar Meitetsu Grand Hotel for the women's team.
