International Team Takes 10½-7½ Lead Into Presidents Cup Singles

The International team will take a three-point lead into Sunday’s singles at the Presidents Cup, leaving it five points short of the total needed to secure the title and the United States needing a substantial comeback to retain it. The International team led 10½-7½ at Medinah after the two sides split Saturday afternoon’s foursomes, with 12 points available in the final day’s matches. The Americans had reduced the gap to three points in the morning fourballs, winning the session 2½-1½. They also claimed two of the four afternoon matches, but the Internationals won the final two on the course to hold their advantage. Corey Conners and Nick Taylor beat Russell Henley and Jacob Bridgeman by one hole after rallying from three down, while Ryan Fox and Min Woo Lee defeated Sam Burns and Wyndham Clark 3 and 2. Cameron Young and Chris Gotterup recorded the largest match win of the week, beating Adam Scott and Sungjae Im 6 and 4. Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele earned a 2-and-1 win over Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim for the United States. The afternoon session ended level at two points apiece.
