Instagram launches feature to add tagged posts to profile grid

Instagram has launched a new feature that allows users to add posts they are tagged in directly to their main profile grid. The update, announced on September 10, 2026, gives users greater control over their profile's appearance by letting them feature selected tagged content alongside their own posts. Users can add a tagged post to their grid from the direct message notification they receive when tagged, from the post's three-dot menu, or by pressing and holding a post in their Tagged tab. The original post remains on the profile of the person who published it, and adding it to another user's grid does not duplicate or delete the original. Users can remove a tagged post from their grid at any time without affecting the original post or its presence in the Tagged tab. Instagram notes that the visibility of a tagged post added to a grid depends on the privacy settings of both the user's account and the account of the person who tagged them. By default, added posts appear in reverse-chronological order, but users can rearrange them using the profile reordering tool introduced in June 2026. The feature is part of a broader push for profile control.
