Insta360 Launches Luna Pro Gimbal Camera as Affordable Alternative
Insta360 has launched the Luna Pro, a new single-lens gimbal camera positioned as a more affordable alternative to its flagship Luna Ultra. The device, which started at $599.99, retains several key features from the higher-end model while omitting its dedicated telephoto lens. The Luna Pro features a 1-inch 8K sensor paired with a Leica Summicron lens, a detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen, and AI-powered subject tracking. It can record native 4K vertical video at 30fps, a capability the Luna Ultra lacks at launch. Insta360 has stated that the Luna Ultra will receive a firmware update to add this feature, expected around September 20. The primary trade-off for the lower price is the absence of the Ultra's telephoto lens. This reduces the Pro's zoom range to up to 4x HighRes Zoom and 2x lossless zoom, compared to the Ultra's 12x and 6x respectively. The camera also includes 3-axis stabilization, 10-bit I-Log recording, and Dolby Vision support. In the US, the Luna Pro is priced at $599.99, while the Luna Ultra costs $769.99. In Europe, the Pro starts at €469.
