Indian Embassy rescues Tamil worker from Kuwait abuse

An Indian domestic worker from Tamil Nadu, who alleged severe torture, starvation, and non-payment of wages in Kuwait, has been taken into the care of the Indian Embassy in the Gulf nation. The woman, identified as Vanitha from Kallakurichi district, had posted a video appeal for help, prompting swift intervention by diplomatic and local authorities. Vanitha, who reportedly traveled to Kuwait approximately three months ago through an employment agent, claimed in the video that she had been denied proper food for over 50 days and had not received her salary for the past two months. She described experiencing extreme cruelty and expressed fear for her life, appealing to authorities in her home state to facilitate her return to India. Responding to the allegations, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed on Friday that the Indian Embassy in Kuwait became aware of the situation and immediately offered assistance. "She is currently at our embassy," Jaiswal stated. "We remain committed to doing our best for the wellbeing, safety and welfare of Indian nationals abroad.
