India Inaugurates 500 New Critical Care Beds in Andhra Pradesh

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu jointly inaugurated 10 critical care blocks and 12 integrated public health laboratories in Andhra Pradesh on September 12, 2026. The facilities, established under the national Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), represent a total investment of ₹249 crore. The 10 critical care blocks have added 500 critical care beds to the state's healthcare infrastructure. These blocks are equipped with advanced operation theatres and ultrasound facilities, and will provide specialized services in cardiology, nephrology, neurology, and neurosurgery. The 12 integrated public health laboratories were established at various area hospitals across the state, including locations such as Seethampeta, Guntakal, and Palamaner. During the inauguration event in Vijayawada, Minister Nadda announced that under the PM-ABHIM mission, the central government has sanctioned 631 critical care blocks across states and union territories nationwide.
