India Delivers Two Replies to Pakistan at UN

Published 10 October 2026

India delivered two Right of Reply statements at separate United Nations General Assembly committees on October 9, criticizing Pakistan over Jammu and Kashmir and warning against treating nuclear weapons as routine instruments of statecraft. The remarks addressed different agenda items and were made by two Indian representatives. At the Fourth Committee’s discussion on decolonisation, Indian MP Mahima Kumari Mewar responded to a statement by Pakistan’s representative. She accused Pakistan of spreading falsehoods about Jammu and Kashmir and called on it to end what she described as human-rights violations in areas under Pakistani control. Mewar also alleged that Pakistani forces and their proxies had killed dozens of civilians in recent months during protests for basic rights and necessities. Those allegations were statements made by the Indian representative and were not independently established in the supplied reporting. Mewar reiterated India’s position that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of the country. The Fourth Committee considers special political and decolonisation issues. The reports did not include the Pakistani remarks that prompted her reply.
