India cricketers to use designated Asian Games hotels

Indian cricketers participating in the upcoming Asian Games 2026 in Japan will be housed in designated accommodation provided by the Games Organising Committee, rather than the usual five-star hotels. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that while the facilities will not be five-star, they are adequate and comfortable for the players. BCCI vice president Rajiv Shukla addressed concerns regarding accommodation at a sendoff ceremony for the Indian contingent on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. He explained that Nagoya, the host city for cricket, has a limited number of top-rated hotels. This scarcity led to the decision to utilize the organizers' provided lodging. Shukla stated that the BCCI has reviewed photographs and videos of the accommodation and is satisfied with the arrangements. "Whatever they organisers are providing, we are staying there and we are keeping a watch what kind of accommodation is being given so that our players are comfortable. Definitely those are not of fivestar but a good accommodation," Shukla said. He added that players will have separate rooms, avoiding twin-sharing.
