India clinch T20 series with seven-wicket win over Afghanistan

India secured an unassailable 2-0 series lead against Afghanistan with a seven-wicket victory in the second T20 International at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday. The win, achieved with 31 balls to spare, clinched the three-match series for the hosts with one match remaining. Chasing a target of 160, India reached 163 for three in just 14.5 overs. The foundation was laid by an explosive 88-run opening partnership between Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, which came off only 38 balls. Samson was the chief aggressor, scoring a blistering 57 from 22 deliveries, including seven fours and four sixes. Sharma contributed a rapid 39 from 19 balls, hitting four sixes. The pair dominated the powerplay, racing to 82 without loss. Their assault was particularly brutal in the sixth over, where they smashed 26 runs off Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi. After Sharma was dismissed by Rashid Khan, Samson continued his onslaught to reach his half-century before also falling to Khan. Ishan Kishan then guided the team home with an unbeaten 38 from 23 balls. Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bowl, India restricted Afghanistan to 159 for eight.
