ICC fines India pacer Kranti Gaud for Asia Cup final breach

The International Cricket Council has fined India women's seamer Kranti Gaud 10 percent of her match fee and added one demerit point to her disciplinary record for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the Women's Asia Cup final. The incident occurred during the opening over of Sri Lanka's innings in the final, which India won by 72 runs in Dubai on Sunday, September 13, 2026. Gaud was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to using language, actions or gestures which disparage, or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon their dismissal. According to the ICC, Gaud made a gesture towards the pavilion after dismissing Sri Lanka opener Imesha Dulani. The charge was levelled by onfield umpires Saleema Imtiaz and Shathira Jakir Jesy, third umpire Rokeya Sultana, and fourth umpire Humaira Farah. Gaud admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Supriya Rani Das, so no formal hearing was required. The ICC confirmed this was Gaud's first offence in a 24-month period.
