Hyderabad Secures Agreements With Top Global Universities

A delegation from the Indian state of Telangana has secured agreements and expressions of interest from several leading global universities to establish a presence in Hyderabad, aiming to transform the city into a major international education hub. The developments follow a visit to the United States and the United Kingdom by a team led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy from August 19 to 29, 2026. According to official statements released on August 31, the University of London and Northeastern University in Boston have agreed to set up their first offshore campuses in India in Hyderabad. The London School of Economics and the School of Oriental and African Studies have also agreed to send teams to explore establishing offshore schools, improving teaching methods, and facilitating faculty exchanges. Harvard University has expressed interest in launching short-term executive education programs for senior government and corporate officials at the Dr. Marri Chenna Reddy Human Resource Development Institute in Hyderabad. Oxford University is exploring the possibility of setting up shared research centers and centers of excellence in the state.
