Hoskinson Says He Is Developing a Cardano Language
Charles Hoskinson said he is personally developing a new programming language for Cardano with Lucas Rosa, an engineer at Input Output Global, describing a design that would combine transaction intents with cryptographic proofs. The proposal remains under development, with no language name, public code, full technical specification or developer release date disclosed. In an October 18 post on X, Hoskinson said the language would bring together transaction intents, proof-carrying data and Groth16 proofs. His description presents the system as a way for users to state the outcome they want while allowing applications to determine how to carry out the request and provide evidence that specified conditions were met. For example, a user could request a token swap subject to a minimum price, rather than spelling out every step. Proof-carrying data attaches evidence that information satisfies particular rules, while Groth16 is a cryptographic proof system that can produce compact proofs for verification. Hoskinson’s announcement did not provide technical materials that would allow developers to assess how those elements would be implemented together. The language would add to...
