A Justice Department victim-notification update says Elizabeth Holmes is scheduled to transfer from federal prison to a halfway house in Del Valle, Texas, on Aug. 23, 2027. The Bureau of Prisons has not confirmed her individual placement, and its policy says specific designation information cannot be released until a person arrives at the assigned facility. The notification identifies the Austin Transitional Center as the planned destination. Holmes is serving a federal sentence for defrauding investors in Theranos, the blood-testing company she founded. The scheduled move has been described in reports as a halfway-house transfer or release from prison, but the notification does not clarify the legal status of the placement or whether she would remain in custody while serving her sentence. The Bureau of Prisons said it does not discuss individual confinement conditions or release plans. It cited security and supervision requirements, medical or program needs, safety considerations and proximity to a person’s release residence as factors in facility assignments. The agency’s statement did not say whether any of those considerations affected Holmes’s reported schedule.
