Holdout juror's brother says vote based on evidence, not faith

The brother of the lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial has spoken publicly, stating that his brother's decision to vote guilty was based solely on the case evidence and not influenced by his Catholic faith. The juror's identity became public after the jury deadlocked 11-1 on September 4, 2026, resulting in a mistrial. The brother told the New York Post that the family has been subjected to harassment, with strangers leaving notes at their mother's home and calling incessantly. "My family cannot leave the house," he said. "They won't leave us alone, and we don't know anything." The trial centered on whether Clancy, a 36-year-old former nurse from Duxbury, Massachusetts, was criminally responsible when she strangled her three children-Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan-in January 2023. Clancy admitted to the killings but claimed she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis. The defense argued she was not criminally responsible, while prosecutors maintained she acted deliberately. After more than 38 hours of deliberations over seven days, 11 jurors favored a not-guilty-by-reason-of-insanity verdict, but one juror refused to agree.
