Hodgkinson wins 800m in speedsuit at Athlos London

Published 19 September 2026

Keely Hodgkinson secured a dominant win in the 800 meters at the Athlos London meet on Friday, showcasing a revolutionary Nike speedsuit that merged athletic technology with fashion-forward design. The British Olympic champion finished in 1 minute 56.40 seconds, outpacing Switzerland's Valentina Rosamilia by over two seconds at StoneX Stadium. The speedsuit, described as "ninjalike" and "Catwomanesque," was entirely black with a hood, long sleeves, and a ponytail cutout. Hodgkinson, 24, paired it with dark sunglasses and Nike's latest carbon-plated spikes. She explained that the suit was inspired by Cathy Freeman's iconic outfit from the 2000 Sydney Olympics, representing an updated version with modern technology. "It's a mixture of fashion, speed, and science all coming together for maybe the future of athletics," Hodgkinson said. Athlos, an all-female event created by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, blends sport with entertainment. The London edition featured a red carpet parade, a live trackside DJ, and winners received custom Tiffany crowns.
