Heidi Klum Appears as Giant Severed Hand for Halloween
Heidi Klum appeared at her 25th annual Halloween party in New York on October 31 as an oversized, gruesome replica of her own severed left hand, complete with red nails, rings and exposed-looking tendons at the wrist. The model and television host’s face was positioned near the wrist opening, while her legs formed two of the costume’s fingers. The design reproduced details of Klum’s hand, including her jewelry and a tattoo bearing her husband Tom Kaulitz’s name. Klum’s daughter Leni noted that her mother incorporated her actual wedding ring into the costume. Klum said the idea came to her after she looked at her hand and imagined fitting inside a giant version. She developed the costume with longtime collaborator Mike Marino, a special-effects artist. Klum said getting into it took about five to six hours and that carrying the heavy creation was difficult. Kaulitz, who has joined Klum in coordinated Halloween costumes in previous years, was absent because he was on tour, Klum said. The party took place at Cathédrale in New York City and marked the 25th year of the annual event. Klum had teased the costume in the weeks before the reveal. Images from the costume’s development...
