Hearn says Joshua contract limits White's role in fight

Published 1 October 2026

Eddie Hearn says Anthony Joshua’s contract bars Dana White from promoting the scheduled Tyson Fury-Joshua fight unless Hearn grants permission, while White has maintained that he is involved. The disagreement leaves White’s formal role unresolved as the bout is set for December 11 in Cardiff. Hearn said after the launch press conference that White was not permitted to attend. He said Joshua’s contract prevents White from participating unless Hearn allows it, and argued that White had wrongly represented himself as promoting the event and had said the fight would take place in the United States. The bout was announced for Principality Stadium in Cardiff, not Madison Square Garden, which White had previously said he had secured as a venue. White appeared to insist at a Contender Series press conference that he remained involved, according to the reports. One account said Netflix had announced a promotional collaboration involving White and The Ring. The available accounts do not establish how that reported collaboration fits with the contract terms Hearn described, whether Hearn granted permission, or what responsibilities White would have.
