HBO Redesigns Hogwarts House Crests for Harry Potter Series

HBO has unveiled redesigned crests for the four Hogwarts houses as part of its upcoming Harry Potter television series, a move that corrects a long-standing discrepancy from the original film franchise. The new circular emblems, revealed during the annual Back to Hogwarts event on September 1, 2026, feature a more minimalist design and restore a key detail from J.K. Rowling's novels for the house of Ravenclaw. The most significant change is for Ravenclaw, whose mascot is now an eagle. In the original eight Warner Bros. films, the house was represented by a raven, despite Rowling's books specifying an eagle as its animal. The new HBO series is returning to the source material, bringing the house's imagery back in line with the novels. The other three houses retain their traditional mascots: Gryffindor with its lion, Slytherin with its serpent, and Hufflepuff with its badger. The redesigned crests are not merely promotional graphics.
