Harry Potter Series Casts Riddle Dobby Ginny

Published 4 September 2026

HBO has announced key casting for the second season of its Harry Potter television series, confirming Billy Barratt as the young Tom Riddle, Lenny Rush as Dobby, and Bonnie Hill as Ginny Weasley. The additions are for the upcoming season, which will adapt Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Barratt, who holds the record as the youngest International Emmy winner, will portray Tom Riddle, the character who eventually becomes Lord Voldemort. His casting aligns with the series' strategy of hiring age-appropriate actors, with Barratt’s age closely matching Riddle’s age in the books. The series has not yet announced who will play the adult Voldemort. Lenny Rush, a BAFTA winner, is set to play Dobby the house-elf. In the film adaptations, Dobby was a CGI creation voiced by Toby Jones. HBO has not yet specified whether the series will utilize animation, motion capture, or practical effects for the character. Bonnie Hill will take over the role of Ginny Weasley, succeeding Gracie Cochrane, who portrayed the character in the first season. Cochrane departed the series before production began on the follow-up installment, with her family citing unforeseen circumstances.
