Harris to Campaign in Michigan with Senate Candidate El-Sayed

Former Vice President Kamala Harris will campaign in Michigan next week alongside Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee for the state's open Senate seat, marking her latest appearance in the 2026 midterm elections. The event, scheduled for Tuesday, September 23, will feature a roundtable discussion focused on Black maternal health, according to El-Sayed's campaign. Harris's spokesperson, Eduardo Negrón, stated the visit aims to help turn out the vote in the critical state. "It is critical we flip the Senate so we can bring down prices and stand up to Donald Trump's corruption," Negrón said in a statement. El-Sayed, a physician and former head of health departments in Detroit and Wayne County, expressed optimism about the joint appearance. "I'm just really looking forward to having her here, and she is somebody who so many folks in communities like Detroit look up to as an inspirational leader," El-Sayed told Politico. "I'm grateful that she's coming in and having conversations about what it takes to get the turnout up.
