Halide 3.2 adds finer aperture control for iPhone 18 Pro
Halide 3.2 is now available, giving iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max users finer control over the variable aperture in the phones’ main camera. The update lets photographers select any aperture value from ƒ1.48 to ƒ4.0, rather than choosing among the four manual settings offered by Apple’s Camera app, according to release coverage. The app provides two ways to use the expanded control. In Aperture Priority mode, a user selects an aperture and Halide automatically adjusts shutter speed and ISO. In manual mode, users can set those controls themselves, including ISO. The reported feature details describe a broader range of options, though the supplied reports do not include independent image testing to show how different settings affect real-world photographs. The aperture controls are specific to the iPhone 18 Pro models. Halide 3.2 also adds two photography looks, Dawn and Quicksilver, and a 16:9 shooting option. Dawn is described as adding warmth to midtones and highlights while retaining gentle shadows. Quicksilver uses high contrast and muted colors, drawing on the look of silver-retention processing.
