Hadjar to miss Italian GP; Lawson replaces him again

Red Bull Racing has confirmed that Isack Hadjar will miss the Italian Grand Prix at Monza as he continues to recover from a wrist injury sustained during the summer break. The decision, announced on Wednesday, September 2, means Liam Lawson will once again partner Max Verstappen in the senior team for a second consecutive race weekend. Hadjar, 21, suffered the injury in a training session ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. He was forced to sit out that event, with Lawson stepping in and delivering a seventh-place finish. Despite Hadjar expressing hope for a return at Monza, Red Bull has opted for a cautious approach. The team stated it is "closely monitoring his rehabilitation" and "will take no unnecessary risks with his return to competition." The high-speed Monza circuit places significant physical demands on a driver's hands and wrists, a key factor in the team's decision. Lawson will therefore have another opportunity to impress in the RB22, having adapted quickly after limited preparation time at Zandvoort. "It's been a good weekend," Lawson said after the Dutch race.
