Haas Tests Camara, Hirakawa, Fornaroli at Portimao for 2027 Seat

Ferrari junior driver Rafael Camara completed a three-day test for the Haas Formula 1 team at the Portimao circuit in Portugal, a session that has intensified speculation about a potential race seat with the American outfit for the 2027 season. The test, conducted from August 26 to 28, saw Camara share driving duties with Haas reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa and McLaren junior Leonardo Fornaroli, all sampling the team's 2025 car, the VF25. The evaluation comes as Haas works to finalize its driver lineup for next year. While Oliver Bearman appears set to retain his seat, the future of his teammate Esteban Ocon remains uncertain. Team principal Ayao Komatsu acknowledged the interest from outside drivers, framing it as a positive sign. "I think its really good that other people are actually interested in us," Komatsu said. "We just take it as a compliment that other drivers are interested." Camara, the reigning Formula 3 champion, is currently second in the Formula 2 standings, trailing leader Nikola Tsolov by 22 points. His recent form, including a feature race win at Spa and a podium in Hungary, has bolstered his credentials.
