Grosjean apologizes for misrepresenting Brown's Piastri comments

Former Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean has publicly apologized for misrepresenting comments made by McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown about driver Oscar Piastri during the Spanish Grand Prix weekend. The incident began when Grosjean, working as a pundit for French broadcaster Canal, commented on an interview Brown had given to F1TV following qualifying at the Madrid circuit. During the F1TV interview, which Grosjean was part of as a panelist, Brown was asked about the performance gap between McLaren drivers Lando Norris, who took pole position, and Oscar Piastri, who qualified seventh. Brown praised Norris's lap, stating, "I think you've got Lando on his A-plus game, so I don't think there was anything left lap-time wise there and so he found that. Oscar has been right there with him all weekend and just didn't get that same extra performance that lap." However, during his subsequent race commentary for Canal on Sunday, Grosjean characterized Brown's remarks differently. He claimed Brown had taken a "chainsaw" to Piastri's performance and alleged that Brown had said Norris "is a world champion and a better driver than Piastri." These comments quickly gained traction on social media.
