Google rolls out three health features to Pixel Watches
Google is beginning to roll out three Health Guardian features to Pixel Watch 3, 4 and 5 users: blood-pressure trends, insulin-resistance trends and sleep-breathing quality metrics. The tools are available through the Google Health app, and Google says the first reports are expected in early October, after watches collect enough data. The features are free for owners of the three eligible Pixel Watch models. Google says they analyze patterns in sensor data over time rather than provide direct clinical measurements. The blood-pressure tool estimates trends using pulse and motion signals, while the insulin-resistance feature looks for changes in metabolic patterns across multiple weeks without requiring a blood sample. Google says the insulin-resistance feature is intended to support general wellness, not diagnose diabetes or replace clinical testing. The blood-pressure estimates likewise are not readings from a cuff. The reports do not establish how closely the estimates match clinical measurements, and their usefulness for individual users has not yet been demonstrated in the available reporting. Sleep-breathing quality metrics are the third feature in the rollout.
