Google Live AI voice features roll out for Gmail, Docs

Google has begun rolling out new conversational AI features for its Gmail, Docs, and Keep applications, allowing users to interact with the services using natural language voice commands. The update, collectively branded as "Live," aims to shift user interaction away from traditional typing and searching towards a more hands-free, spoken dialogue. The new capabilities, powered by Gemini audio models, enable users to ask questions about their Gmail inbox, draft documents in Docs, and organize thoughts in Keep without manual input. Gmail Live allows users to query their email history for specific information, such as flight details or event schedules, presenting answers with direct links to the source messages. This feature replaces manual search functions with a conversational interface that supports follow-up questions and topic changes within the same session. Docs Live functions as a voice-driven writing assistant, helping users create first drafts of documents, summaries, or outlines. By listening to spoken brainstorming or descriptions of desired content, the tool can organize thoughts and generate structured text.
