Google Begins U.S. Preview of Gemini Business Calls

Google has begun a limited U.S. preview of Gemini’s “Call for Me” feature, which lets the AI assistant place routine calls to businesses on behalf of eligible Pixel 11 users. The feature can check business hours, ask about product availability or service prices, and make or manage reservations and appointments, according to Google’s product and support information. The early preview is rolling out gradually to eligible users in the United States. Google’s stated requirements include being at least 18, using an eligible Pixel 11 device with a U.S. SIM, setting the device to English, subscribing to a paid Google AI plan and enrolling in the public beta of the Phone by Google app. Users also need the latest Gemini app. The feature is not currently available to callers in Canada, and Google has not announced when it might expand there. Before a call begins, users can review a summary of the task, the number Gemini plans to call and the information it will share, then approve the call. Google says Gemini identifies itself as an AI assistant calling on the user’s behalf. Users can follow a live transcript, listen to the conversation and take over at any point.
