Google Begins Phased Rollout of Android 17 Motion Assist Feature

Google has begun a phased rollout of its new Motion Assist feature for Android 17, a tool designed to alleviate motion sickness for smartphone users in moving vehicles. The feature, which first appeared in development as "Motion Cues" in late 2024, is now becoming available to some users of Google Pixel phones, with a broader release for other Android devices expected to follow. Motion Assist addresses the sensory conflict that causes nausea when a person's eyes focus on a static screen while their inner ear senses the motion of a car, bus, or train. To counter this, the feature displays small, animated dots or shapes along the edges of the phone's display.
