Google AI Mode Expands With Flight Tracking and Hotel Booking

Google announced on August 27, 2026, a significant expansion of its AI Mode in Search, introducing features that allow users to track flight prices, book hotels, and view costs in points or miles directly within its conversational AI interface. The updates mark a strategic shift for the tech giant, positioning AI Mode as a comprehensive travel planning and booking assistant that moves beyond information retrieval to facilitate transactions. The new capabilities enable users to describe their travel plans to AI Mode, which will then display flight options from over 300 airlines and travel sites. Users can ask the tool to track prices for specific routes and dates, receiving email notifications if fares change. This flight price tracking feature is available in more than 180 countries and regions where AI Mode operates, though it is not yet available in the European Economic Area. For accommodations, AI Mode now offers a conversational hotel booking process in the United States, initially in English. Users can specify their trip details and preferences to receive a curated list of hotel options complete with reviews.
