GM Defense Delivers Patriot Missile Parts to Lockheed in 22 Days

GM Defense has delivered its first batch of housing components for Lockheed Martin's Patriot PAC-3 MSE interceptor missiles, completing the work in 22 days after the two companies signed a formal production contract. The delivery, announced by Lockheed Martin on September 17, 2026, marks a significant acceleration in the production of a critical air defense system amid high global demand. The companies signed the contract on August 6, 2026, and the first components were delivered on August 28, 2026. Lockheed Martin stated that such components typically take months or even years to produce through traditional supply chains. The rapid turnaround was achieved by leveraging General Motors' existing casting, machining, and large-scale manufacturing capabilities to produce the parts to military specifications. "This extraordinary 22-day turnaround underscores Lockheed Martin's relentless focus on execution, delivering for our troops faster, with greater capacity," said Tim Cahill, president of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control.
