Gauff, Fils Win Cincinnati Titles Ahead of US Open

Coco Gauff won her first title of 2026 on Sunday, defeating fellow American Jessica Pegula in straight sets to claim her second Cincinnati Open championship. The victory, achieved on August 23, 2026, provides a major confidence boost for the 22-year-old as she heads into the US Open, which begins with the main draw on August 30. In the men’s draw, 22-year-old Arthur Fils of France secured the biggest title of his career, winning his first Masters 1000 trophy. Gauff, the world No. 4, dominated the third-seeded Pegula 6-2, 6-4 in a match that lasted just 75 minutes. She raced to a 5-0 lead in the opening set and maintained control throughout, breaking Pegula five times.
