Gardaí seek Skoda in fatal Clare hit-and-run

Gardaí are appealing for information about a silver-gold Skoda Octavia following a fatal hit-and-run in County Clare that claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy on Friday night. The victim, Bryan Lowe, was found unresponsive on the roadside after being struck while riding an electric dirt bike. The incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, on the L3050 at Cottage Cross near Cloonlara, close to the Clare-Limerick border. Emergency services were alerted and found the teenager unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A second vehicle involved in the collision failed to remain at the location. On Sunday, Gardaí issued a specific appeal for the driver or occupants of a silver-gold Skoda Octavia, registration number 05C5982. They are seeking to speak with anyone who was driving this vehicle in the vicinity of Cloonlara-Castleconnell between 6 p.m. on Friday, September 4, and 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 5. Investigators are also asking road users who were in the area at the time to check for any dashcam or other camera footage that may assist the inquiry. Bryan Lowe was a sixth-year student at St Munchin's College in Limerick.
