Gambhir tells Sooryavanshi to wait for India chance

India head coach Gautam Gambhir has stated that 15-year-old batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi must wait for his opportunity in the T20I side, emphasizing that established players like Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma remain ahead in the pecking order. Sooryavanshi did not feature in any of the three T20Is against Afghanistan, which India won by 127 runs in the final match on Thursday to complete a 3-0 series sweep. Samson and Abhishek opened for India throughout the series, with Abhishek scoring a century in the last game. Speaking after the match, Gambhir told reporters that age does not guarantee selection. "Whether you're a 15-year-old or a 30-year-old, when you have to wait for your opportunity you have to wait for your opportunity," he said. "We know the kind of talent he has and what he can do, but someone who has been performing for the last two to three years will always be ahead of someone who has just entered the team." Gambhir highlighted that Samson, who was dropped from the England series earlier, had shown his talent and deserved his place.
