Galadima Claims Fayemi Coordinates Group to Challenge Tinubu in 2027

Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, says he is part of a seven-person opposition group coordinated by former Ekiti governor Kayode Fayemi to try to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election. Fayemi’s media aides have rejected the claim, saying he remains committed to the All Progressives Congress. Galadima described the group during a television appearance on Thursday, September 24, saying its members came from different opposition parties and were making progress. He said the effort was aimed at challenging Tinubu, but the reports provided no independent confirmation of the group’s membership or activities. Rather than put one opposition candidate on the ballot, Galadima said, separate parties could field candidates and later urge supporters to back the contender they believed best positioned to defeat Tinubu. He argued that this approach was necessary because opposition parties could not legally produce one joint candidate. Galadima also described a proposed ticket involving Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as a single ticket.
