Gal Gadot directs $1 million prize to $3 million Israel initiative

Gal Gadot has directed her $1 million 2026 Genesis Prize toward an initiative reported to total $3 million for trauma treatment and mental-health services in Israel, the Genesis Prize Foundation said. A matching effort led by the Jewish Funders Network added $2 million in private and corporate donations to the prize, according to the foundation’s announcement. The funding is intended to support 24 Israeli nonprofit organizations that provide trauma care and assist frontline mental-health professionals. The foundation’s list of grantees includes United Hatzalah, Make-A-Wish Israel and CareGivers Israel. The reports do not establish whether the entire $3 million has been raised or disbursed, or specify how much each organization will receive. Gadot, the Israeli actress named the 2026 Genesis Prize laureate, chose to direct the award to organizations and professionals working on psychological recovery, rather than retain the prize money. In a statement, she said she wanted to support doctors, nurses, medics, mental-health professionals and caregivers helping people recover.
