Frankfort Mother Charged in Toddler's Death
A Frankfort mother has been charged with murder in the death of her 2-year-old son, who was found unresponsive in their home earlier this week. Corie A. Walsh, 38, faces three counts of first-degree murder, according to Frankfort police. Officers responded to a report of an injured child at a home on Brook Stone Court around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Upon arrival, they found a neighbor performing CPR on the 2-year-old boy, identified as Barrett Walsh. The child was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Investigators discovered the child had died from asphyxia due to ligature compression of the neck. Court documents state the neighbor found Barrett Walsh hanging from a rafter in the basement with a ligature around his neck. As officers secured the scene, they were directed to an upstairs bathroom where they found Walsh attempting to harm herself. She was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and is currently in custody, awaiting transfer to the Will County Jail. According to court documents, Walsh told investigators she killed her son because she believed he was "the devil and the anti-Christ.
