Four Stabbed in Brooklyn Before J'Ouvert Parade

Four people were stabbed in Brooklyn early Monday morning, hours before the start of the annual J’Ouvert celebration and the West Indian American Day Parade. The violence erupted in the Crown Heights neighborhood around 5:48 a.m. on September 7, 2026, as police responded to reports of a large brawl. Officers arriving at Carroll Street and Utica Avenue discovered three men with stab wounds. A 36-year-old man sustained a puncture wound to the face, while a 23-year-old and a 32-year-old man were stabbed in the neck. All three were transported to Kings County Hospital. The 32-year-old was initially reported in critical condition, though later updates indicated his condition had improved and all three were expected to survive. A fourth individual, a 20-year-old man with a slash wound, also sought medical attention and made his own way to the hospital, where he was expected to recover. The incidents occurred just minutes before the J’Ouvert festival was scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. and ahead of the main West Indian American Day Parade, which was set to start at 11 a.m.
