Four injured in Cramond Island rescue during music festival

A multi-agency rescue operation was launched on Cramond Island on August 28, 2026, after four people were injured during a music event, with crews working together to evacuate casualties from the tidal island near Edinburgh. RNLI Queensferry lifeboat volunteers and HM Coastguard were first called at approximately 4:29 p.m. following reports of a woman with an ankle injury. The rescue effort was complicated by the ongoing Cramond Isle of Punk festival, which had drawn large crowds to the 46-acre island. Crew members who went ashore initially struggled to locate the first casualty due to the event's attendees. They eventually found her on a rocky slope on the north side of the island. After assessment, she was suspected of having suffered a lower leg fracture. Crews administered pain relief and made her stable while planning her evacuation with assistance from the Coastguard Rescue Team. As those plans were underway, the rescue team received a second report of another person elsewhere on the island who was unconscious but breathing. After locating this second casualty through the crowds, responders helped her regain consciousness using oxygen.
