Four arrested over ex-boxing champ Zolani Tete's killing

Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of former two-division world boxing champion Zolani Tete, who was killed outside his home in South Africa last week. The arrests were announced by police on Monday, August 24, 2026, with one suspect expected to appear in court the same day. Tete, 38, was ambushed on the evening of Friday, August 21, while sitting in his car and waiting for his gate to open at his residence in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape. According to police, two armed men wearing balaclavas emerged from another vehicle and opened fire. Tete attempted to drive into his yard to escape but died at the scene.
