Four Adults Teen Charged in Baby Death

A newborn baby girl, identified in court as Baby S, was found dead with 33 stab wounds in an outbuilding in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, on Sunday, August 30, 2026. Four adults and a 15-year-old girl have been charged in connection with her death. The baby was discovered wrapped in a towel and a blue bag atop a washing machine at an address in Holywell Heights, Wincobank area, after police responded to a concern for her safety. Emergency services pronounced her dead at the scene. A forensic postmortem examination confirmed that stab wounds were the cause of death, with injuries sustained to her face and torso. Charged with murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and offending the course of justice by allegedly cleaning the scene are the baby's mother, Andrea Skopova, 20; her boyfriend, Peter Horvath Jr., 19; his father, Peter Horvath Sr., 38; and his mother, Nina Horvathova, 37. All are Slovakian nationals. The 15-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faces a charge of offending the course of justice. The defendants appeared at Sheffield Magistrates Court on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, and were remanded in custody.
