Former Rangers star Nacho Novo announces death of stepson

Former Rangers player Nacho Novo announced the death of his 26-year-old stepson, Ross, on September 15, 2026. The 47-year-old, who currently manages Darvel FC, shared the news in an Instagram post, stating he and his family were "absolutely broken" by the loss. "Nothing in my life couldve prepared me for this post. We are absolutely broken to share the sad news that our beautiful boy has tragically passed away," Novo wrote. "Please respect our families privacy during this extremely difficult time. Forever in our hearts, my boy." Darvel FC confirmed the death in a statement, identifying the deceased as Ross and noting he was 26. The club said it was "devastated by the tragic news" and asked for the family's privacy to be respected. The cause of death was not disclosed by Novo or the club. Tributes were paid by former teammates and colleagues. Rangers FC commented that "the thoughts of everyone at Rangers are with you at this sad time." Former players including Steven Davis, Maurice Edu, Michael Mols, and Craig Moore also offered condolences. Sports broadcaster Laura Woods and wrestling star Grado were among others who expressed sympathy.
