Former College QB Jurkovec Charged With Two Felonies After Truck Theft

Former college quarterback Phil Jurkovec was arrested and charged with two felonies after allegedly stealing a rental box truck from a hospital parking lot in Pennsylvania. The incident occurred at Allegheny Health Network's Wexford Hospital, where police say Jurkovec drove away with the vehicle while an employee was loading equipment. According to court documents and police reports, the alleged theft took place at the hospital's valet garage on Route 19. A rental company employee was collecting tables and chairs from a September 17 function when the truck was taken. The vehicle was equipped with GPS tracking, which allowed authorities to follow its location to Cranberry Township, where officers stopped the truck and took Jurkovec into custody. Jurkovec, 26, has been charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, both third-degree felonies in Pennsylvania. His bail was set at $25,000, which he was unable to post, and he remained in the Allegheny County Jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 30. The former quarterback played college football at three major programs: Notre Dame, Boston College, and Pittsburgh.
