Former AGT Singer Charged With Murder
Deshundre Vinson, a 22-year-old R&B singer and former contestant on America's Got Talent, has been charged with first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated child abuse in connection with the drowning death of his 4-year-old nephew in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The charges stem from an incident on August 16, 2026, at an apartment complex swimming pool. According to law enforcement, Vinson was babysitting his nephew and the child's 6-year-old brother on the day of the incident. Police allege he allowed the two boys to walk approximately 0.2 miles to the apartment complex pool without adult supervision. The complex reportedly had posted signs warning that children under 14 should not use the pool unsupervised. Chattanooga police were responding to an unrelated call at the complex around 5:41 p.m. when they heard screaming from the pool area. Officers found bystanders performing CPR on the unresponsive 4-year-old, who had been pulled from the water. The child was transported to Erlanger Hospital, where he remained in the pediatric intensive care unit for five days before dying.
