Florida Set to Start Aaron Philo Against Georgia

Published 31 October 2026

Florida is set to start quarterback Aaron Philo against Georgia in the teams’ Week 9 rivalry game, according to a report by Florida reporter Zach Abolverdi. The Gators and Bulldogs are scheduled to meet Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, with kickoff listed for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC. Philo started Florida’s first six games before a right shoulder injury sidelined him for the Gators’ Week 7 game against Texas. Tramell Jones Jr. made his first career start in that matchup and helped Florida win 27-24, throwing for 155 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. Abolverdi reported that Jones would also be available against Georgia. Florida coach Jon Sumrall said earlier in the week that the choice would depend on the quarterbacks’ health and availability. Philo and Jones split practice reps, and both were listed as questionable on the SEC availability report, according to the account reporting their practice status. Another report said Philo had been cleared to play but remained questionable to start. The accounts therefore differ on his pregame clearance status; Abolverdi’s report identified him as the starter, but no direct announcement from Florida was reported....
