First Lady Launches Food Bank, ICT Centre in Anambra

Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, visited Anambra State on Thursday for a one-day working visit during which she launched the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East zone and commissioned a new information and communications technology centre at Federal Polytechnic, Oko. The First Lady arrived at 11:31 a.m. at the tarmac of Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, where she was received by Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, his wife Dr Nonye Soludo, Deputy Governor Onyekachukwu Ibezim and his wife, members of the State House of Assembly and other top government functionaries. Her arrival was met with a traditional dance performance by a cultural troupe and a gathering of political party supporters. At the old Governors Lodge in Amawbia, Tinubu officially unveiled the South-East zonal edition of the National Community Food Bank Programme, a component of the Renewed Hope Initiative. According to officials, the programme is structured to support vulnerable groups against economic hardship, targeting widows, the elderly, persons with disabilities, nursing mothers and young children with food assistance and nutrition education.
