Federal Judge Dismisses Harassment Suit Against Lizzo's Touring Company

A federal judge has dismissed all remaining claims in a harassment and discrimination lawsuit filed against singer Lizzo's touring company by a former wardrobe stylist, marking a significant legal victory for the artist. U.S. District Judge Fernando L. Aenlle-Rocha granted summary judgment on Tuesday, September 1, in favor of Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc., ending the case at the trial court level. The lawsuit was originally filed in September 2023 by Asha Daniels, who worked as a wardrobe stylist on the European leg of Lizzo's 2023 Special Tour for less than three weeks. Daniels alleged she was subjected to a hostile work environment involving sexual harassment, racial discrimination, disability discrimination, and retaliation. Her claims included accusations that a wardrobe manager used racial slurs, a male coworker made lewd gestures, and that she suffered a foot injury when a heavy clothing rack was rolled over it. In his ruling, Judge Aenlle-Rocha found that Daniels failed to demonstrate conduct that showed general hostility toward women or disparate treatment of men and women in the workplace.
