Fayose Predicts Tinubu Will Win Over 12 Million Votes in 2027

Published 18 September 2026

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has predicted that President Bola Tinubu will secure over 12 million votes in the 2027 presidential election, asserting that manipulating election results in Nigeria has become very difficult. Fayose, a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who now holds an appointment in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) administration, made the comments during a television interview. Fayose stated that Tinubu would defeat opposition candidates Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) even if they formed a united front. He projected that the South West region alone would deliver a vote difference of five to six million for the president. "To rig the election now is very difficult. Very, very difficult," Fayose said, adding that the president will have over 12 million votes. The prediction aligns with recent statements from the APC presidential campaign council. Ima Niboro, a spokesperson for the council, stated that the party has 12.8 million registered members, describing this as a formidable electoral base.
