On September 18, 2026, fast food chains across the United States rolled out a variety of deals and freebies to celebrate National Cheeseburger Day, with most promotions requiring customers to use mobile apps or loyalty programs. The annual holiday saw major players like McDonald's, Burger King, and Five Guys competing for customers through digital-exclusive offers. McDonald's offered MyMcDonalds Rewards members a free Double Cheeseburger with any purchase of at least $1 through the McDonald's app. Burger King, as part of its weeklong Perks Week, provided Royal Perks members with a free Bacon Cheeseburger with a $3 minimum purchase via the app or website. Five Guys ran a buy-one-get-one-free burger deal from September 16 through September 18, available only through its app or website with promo code BOGOBURGER. Other chains joined the festivities with similar app-based deals. Wendy's Rewards members could add a Daves Single Cheeseburger for $1.99 with any purchase through the app or website. Shake Shack offered a $5 single ShackBurger or single Cheeseburger with any purchase using code BURGERDAY in the app, on the website, or at instore kiosks.
